In 2016 the Hungarian economy showed the all-time highest export volume and trade surplus. The total value of Hungarian exports increased by 3.1 compared to the previous year, while the foreign trade surplus amounted to 10 billion euros.
Over the past two years Hungary’s exports have broken all the previous records, showing the highest numbers in 2015 and 2016. In 2016 exports amounted to € 93.3 billion, which represents a 3.1% increase compared to a year earlier. The foreign trade surplus increased from 8.1 to 10 billion euros in 2016, what is also considered a record.
The capital inflows also accelerated: last eyar 71 large companies made their investments in Hungary. As a result of it, some EUR 3.2 billion of working capital has come to the country and nearly 18 thousand new jobs has been created.
The success of Hungary’s exports can be explained by the strategy announced by the Hungarian government, as well as by the export development institution (MNKH), financing institution (EXIM), and the investment banking side institution (HIPA) created within the framework of the strategy.
